CCTV Privacy Notice

About this Notice
Please read this agreement carefully because it contains important information about your legal rights and remedies.
The University of Asia and the Pacific is committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information in accordance with the Data Privacy of Act of 2012 (DPA).
We are committed to the safety and security of our staff, students and guests within the premises of the University, which is why we use a CCTV system within the campus. The purpose of this notice is to inform individuals whose personal information may be captured by the CCTV system and on how and why such personal information may be processed by the University.

Compliance
We understand that the data captured by the CCTV system is personal data covered by the DPA. The University will therefore ensure that the use of the CCTV system complies with the principles of the DPA.

Purpose of the CCTV System
  • To enhance the personal safety of all individuals on campus
  • To support existing security measures in place
  • To protect the physical assets of the University from intrusion, theft, vandalism, damage, or destruction
  • To prevent and detect crime
  • To maintain peace and order.
The processing of personal information collected is consistent with the University's legitimate interest in ensuring the safety and security of all individuals. If a need may arise, the University may use the personal information in order to establish, exercise or defend against legal claims.

CCTV Operations
CCTV cameras are situated in strategic locations such as entrances, exits, hallways, parking lots, corridors, offices, and other designated areas.
The cameras are operated 24/7 by the security personnel under the supervision of the University. Recordings are securely stored in the security room. Only authorized individuals have access to the footage and the CCTV system.
Stored CCTV recordings are retained up to 60 days.

Rights of the Access, Correction, Deletion and Retention
These are your rights as a data subject in reference to DPA Chap. 4 Sec.16.
  • The right to know what and how your personal information is being used.
  • The right to access your personal information.
  • The right to have your personal information corrected
  • The right to request deletion. This request may or may not be granted unless there is no legitimate reason for the University to retain your personal information.
  • The right to object to the processing of your personal information where the University (or a third party) are processing it on the basis of a legitimate interest.
